Ahoy hoy Community,
die FSFE Gruppe Linz freut sich, den diesjährigen Teil der Linuxwochen
2017 in Linz für 13. und 14. Mai 2017 anzukündigen. Wie jedes Jahr
werden im Zuge der Linuxwochen[0] in ganz Österreich Freie Software,
Open Source, Open Hardware, Open Data und alle verwandten Gebiete
thematisiert. In Linz veranstalten wir dazu wieder eine Vortragsreihe
am Samstag, dem 13. Mai 2017, im Wissensturm gegenüber des
Hauptbahnhofs. Am Sonntag, dem 14. Mai 2017 werden wir im
Hackerspace /dev/lol in der Linzer Altstadt bei Workshops und Show&Tell
gemütlich zusammen kommen.
## Call for Talks - 13. Mai 2017
Den Hauptteil der Linuxwochen Linz bildet der Vortragstag am 13. Mai
2017 im Wissensturm gegenüber des Linzer Hauptbahnhofs.
### Linuxwochen Linz 2017 goes Barcamp
Um unsere Veranstaltung noch stärker mit der und für die Community
auszurichten, planen wir dieses Jahr erstmalig, 50% der Vorträge im
Barcamp-Format[1] abzuhalten. Das bedeutet, dass die Besucher selbst
aus allen Einreichungen wählen können, welche Vorträge am meisten
Interesse wecken. Zur Stärkung der Zusammenarbeit mit der Community
ermutigen wir daher alle interessierten Vortragenden, eine Teilnahme am
Barcamp Pool zu erwägen.
Konkret suchen wir Vorträge einer Länge bis maximal 40 Minuten.
Einreichungen bitten wir an cfp{at}linuxwochen-linz{dot}at zu richten
mit folgendem Inhalt.
- Titel des Vortrags
- Kurze Beschreibung

Hallo,
Ich werde am Mi, 29. März, ab 17:30 in der Bibliothek des Metalab einen
Workshop zu WebVR & A-Frame veranstalten, siehe

Nach etwas Einführung zur Materie Virtual Reality, WebVR und A-Frame
wird der Abend hauptsächlich daraus bestehen, selbst am eigenen Laptop
die Technologien auszuprobieren und mit Cardboard+Handy (davon kann ich
ein paar zur Verfügung stellen, müsst ihr nicht selbst haben) auch als
wirkliche VR-Umgebung anzusehen.
Ich würde mich über all Teilnehmer freuen, die gern Technologie
ausprobieren und zumindest virtuell etwas "basteln" wollen!
Mehr als HTML-Grundkenntnisse und ein Laptop werden dazu nicht
gebraucht, mit etwas JavaScript-Kenntnissen kann man allerdings noch
deutlich mehr erreichen. Ich bin auch ein Neuling auf dem Feld dieser
VR-Technologien und selbst schon ganz gespannt, was wir zusammenbringen
können!
Durch die Raumgröße ist die Teilnehmerzahl beschränkt, daher bitte
anmelden, am besten auf der Meetup-Seite (für jene, die sich nicht auf
Meetup anmelden wollen, wird es demnächst auch eine Anmeldelsite auf der
Metalab-Wikisetie geben).

Tim Berners Lee hat das Internet vor 25 Jahren geschaffen und sich als
Verteidiger der Freiheit einen Namen gemacht, doch nun hat er verkündet,
dass er proprietäre Elemente in den HTML-Standards akzeptieren werde
weil die großen Konzerne ja ohnehin tun würden, was ihnen in den Kram
passt.
Bitte helft mit ihn davon zu überzeugen, dass der HTML-Standard frei von
unfreien Ergänzungen bleiben muss, damit eine ungehinderte Kommunikation
auch mit zeitgemäßen Technologien möglich bleibt!

Wir haben miterlebt wie nervig und unsicher Flash-Pugins in Browsern
waren. Inzwischen kann alles, wozu Flash einstmals verwendet wurde, über
offene Standards wie CSS und Javascript realisiert werden. Die Offenheit
und Kompatibiltät haben sich durchgesetzt. Doch wohin wäre die Reise
gegangen wenn Flash damals vom W3C als "Standard" anerkannt worden
wäre ...?
