Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
Sie schreiben: "Wenn sich die Algorithmen von den Menschen abkoppeln,
dann laufen wir Gefahr, dass der Kapitalismus ohne uns weiterläuft".
Die Gefahr liegt woanders.
Da Algorithmen im sokratischen Sinn nicht wirklich verstehen können und
daher nicht kreativ sind, liegt deren Entwicklung immer in
Menschenhand. [1] Die Algorithmen sind also immer an Menschen
gekoppelt.
Allerdings haben sie sich bereits längst von der überwältigenden
Mehrheit der Menschen abgekoppelt. Denn nur eine kleine Elite darf
proprietäre Algorithmen verstehen, verbessern, verbreiten und
verändern. Das Urheberrecht und die spezielle Eigenschaft von Software
(Quellcode vs. Binärcode, Software as a Service SAAS) die Funktion der
Maschine an sich verstecken zu können, ermöglicht einer kleinen
kapitalistisch und/oder politisch motivierten Minderheit die exklusive
Kontrolle über die Algorithmen, die unser Leben und unsere
Gesellschaften steuern.
Niemand kann verbieten oder verhindern ein physisches Objekt wie z.B
einen Motor zu zerlegen, zu analysieren, zu verstehen und mittels
Kombination mit anderem eine neue, bessere Maschine zu erzeugen. Bei
proprietärer Software ist all das verboten bzw. technisch verhindert.
Aufgrund dieses grundlegenden Problems von proprietärer Software wurde
vor mehr als 30 Jahren freie Software [2] (z.B. Firefox, Linux etc.)
und Lizenzen (z.B GPL) erfunden, die dem Nutzer die Freiheiten
Verstehen, Verwenden, Verbreiten und Verändern garantiert. Nur mit
diesen Freiheiten kann die Kontrolle über die Software bzw. Daten bei
den Benutzern bzw. der Allgemeinheit bleiben.
Entstanden ist diese Alternative aus der Hackerkultur [3], die wiederum
ihre Wurzeln in den Anfängen der akademischen Computerwissenschaften
hat. Teilen von Wissen ist in diesen Gemeinschaften eine ethische Norm.
Die überwiegende Mehrheit der "einfachen Benutzer" hingegen nutzt
derzeit meist proprietäre Software, obwohl ausgereifte,
benutzerfreundliche freie Alternativen existieren. Aus diesem Grund ist
der digitalen Gesellschaft daher derzeit unmöglich, zu verstehen, wie
sie von einer Minderheit gesteuert wird.
Möchten wir die Macht über die Steuerung unserer digitalen
Lebensabläufe von den Zombies wieder zurückgewinnen, müssen wir
dringend als Gesellschaft über die Ethik der Softwarenutzung und
Erzeugung verstärkt nachdenken. Die Philosophie könnte einen wichtigen
Beitrag dazu leisten. [4]

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
Vielen Dank für ihren sehr interessante Artikel "Das gläserne Auto" in
der Auto Touring vom September 2014.
Herr Wiesinger schreibt: "Der Fahrer muss Herr seiner Daten bleiben.
Nur er entscheidet, welche er wem zu welchem Zweck zur Verfügung
stellt!"
Das ist aus meiner Sicht völlig richtig. Aber leider mit der derzeit
üblichen proprietären Software technisch und rechtlich nicht
realisierbar.
Denn bei proprietärer Software wird die Funktionsweise als
Betriebsgeheimnis betrachtet und daher das Verstehen der Funktion für
Andere verboten und technisch verhindert. Niemand außer dem Hersteller
darf lt. Lizenz bzw. Werknutzungsbewilligung wissen welche Daten
wie erhoben, verarbeitet, gespeichert und weitergeleitet bzw. kopiert
werden.
Bei mechanische Bauteilen wie z.B. einem Kolben kann der Hersteller
nicht verbergen welche Funktion er im Auto erfüllt, bei Software ist
das leider möglich. Niemandem ist verboten ein Auto zu zerlegen um zu
verstehen was es tut. Proprietäre Software verbietet das.
Aufgrund dieses grundlegenden Problems von proprietärer Software wurde
vor mehr als 30 Jahren freie Software [1] und Lizenzen (GPL) erfunden,
die dem Nutzer die Freiheiten Verstehen, Verwenden, Verbreiten und
Verändern garantiert. Nur mit diesen Freiheiten kann die Kontrolle
über die Software bzw. Daten und letztlich sein Auto beim
Eigentümer bleiben.
Wenn der Besitzer Herr über sein Fahrzeug und dessen Daten bleiben
soll, muss die Forderung des ÖAMTC als Interessensvertretung der
Autobesitzer daher eine nach freier Software im Auto sein.

Hallo Austria,
vielleicht interessiert es jemanden, gerade das Thema Spiele kam ja nun
vermehrt in Diskussion.
Beim "Prix Ars Electronica" hat ein Paolo P. aus Wien den Preis im
U19-Bereich mit einem freien Spiel gewonnen[0], dass mit freier
Software (Python3, Easygui, mtpaint) auf einem Raspberry Pi erzeugt wurde.
Sicher, die Optik des Spiels ist nicht mit einem Millionen-Euro
Blockbuster zu vergleichen, aber ich finde es eine beeindruckende
Meldung, da Paolo P. Baujahr 2003 ist. Also 11 Jahre alt. Beachtlich.
Lt. Auskunft von Horst Jens (spielend-programmieren.at[1]), bei dem
Paolo wohl auch einen Lehrgang in Python absolviert hat, stünde das
Spiel unter freier Lizenz und hatte bei der Ars Electronica auch
ordentlich Konkurrenz (mit v.a. unfreier Software).
