Hi all,
There's a "Free Software Vs. Software Patents" conference on June 2nd in Brussels with Richard Stallman and Alan Cox as the keynote speakers - but not many have registered for the event.
Can people pass on this information to their national mailing lists?
(particularly if you can pass this information on in French/German/Dutch to the national mailing lists of nearby countries where people can come without having to book a flight.)
Registration form: http://www.greens-efa.org/en/agenda/detail.php?id=1726 Event details: http://greens-efa.org/pdf/agenda/Freesoftwareandsoftwarepatents/index.php
There will also be a demonstration afterwards, and a Freedom Party by FSFE - and on June 1st is FFII's software patents conference, so this should be a great day.
A good turn-out from the free software community would show our MEPs that software freedom matters.
thanks for any help.
Forwarded to UK lists and news, as there's a train link from London.

The registration form says today is the last day for registering, but that's not true. (I just checked this with Laurence, the main organiser.) People can register right up to the event, and even if someone isn't registered, if they turn up with their passport, they should be able to get in.

I wrote a story about this on my website and I also submitted it to Slashdot: http://portal.wikinerds.org/2005june2-softpatents-conference
If you think there is anything more I should add to the story, inform me and I will update it. I will keep this story as the first entry on my website's homepage until the end of month so that it can receive more attention. If I have time I will pass this to local libre software mailing lists as well.
I would like to add a picture to the story but I cannot find any relevant photo or pic for free use. Any suggestions?
