Yes. Being accused of copyright violation because you choose not to respect your "neighbour" is bad PR, so all cases got settled out of court.
My opinion about those lawyers who say a lot of things (showing little to no understanding of the GNU GPL) is that they have their right to an opinion, but I'd enjoy defending myself against them in court over a GNU GPL issue.
